We are Cathy and Jeff Walker who live in Cobourg, Ontario Canada. We live with our 5 Samoyeds on 5.5 acres in a non-kennel environment.
All of our puppies are born and raised in our home amongst the coming and goings of everyday family life. Our puppies have a written guarantee that the sire and dam are clear of any hereditary or congenital birth defects. WinterFrost dogs are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), have been microchipped with CKC approved chips and have had their first set of vaccinations and vet checks. Puppies are covered by the CKC sponsored Pet insurance program - Pets Plus Us for the first 6 weeks after they leave WinterFrost, at no cost to the new owner. All companion dogs are sold on a Non-Breeding Agreement which means they may not be bred.
Anyone that knows Samoyeds know that they are a very talkative breed. Many conversations are taking place every day in our home.
Cathy is in good standing with the Canadian Kennel Club, Samoyed Association of Canada and the Samoyed Club of America
We have been very blessed with knowing and working with several Samoyed breeders. We are thankful to Kyserbearr Samoyeds, Ladakha Samoyeds, Snowstar Samoyeds, and Bobmardon Samoyeds. Through these breeders comes many years infact decades of experience and knowledge. I am very privileged to have worked with them all.
Much time and consideration goes into each and every litter. As a breeder of these amazing dogs we stress the importance of health checks. Prior to any breeding, pedigrees are examined to see what can be brought forth with a new litter. The dogs are properly health tested, vet checked, hips and eyes certification to ensure we are breeding healthy sound Samoyeds.
Once our puppies go to their forever homes, the communication doesn't stop there. In our contracts/health guarantee states that we are now all part of the Sammie family and we are always a phone call, text, facebook message away. Most of our Sammies come back to stay with us when their owners go away and can't take their dogs with them.
Samoyeds are not for everyone. So many people stop us and ask "What kind of dog is that"? If I had a dollar for every time someone asked us that question, we would be millionaires. There are over 200 breeds of dogs out there. Please do your homework on this breed before considering the investment. Samoyeds were bred to work with their families. They hunted, pulled sleds, herded and kept their families warm in the extreme cold. These dogs are very social animals. They prefer to be around their owners. If you don't like to sweep or vacuum, then a Samoyed is not for you. These dogs are double coated and need brushing almost daily. If that is too much work then a Samoyed is not for you. If you have pet allergies, Samoyeds are NOT hypoallergenic, then a Samoyed is not for you. If your not an active outdoor enthusiast then a Samoyed is not for you. Samoyeds need exercise and plenty of it. If your not excited about walking your dog in any kind of weather then a Samoyed is not for you.
